Business Continuity 101 (covered over two sessions)
Just getting started in the field? Or maybe you're a business owner or manager, you know you're not going to do it yourself, but you know you need to know more about the subject? If either of those is true, this is the session for you. Back by popular demand, Carolyn Carlson is one of the top business continuity planners in N.E. Ohio and in two back-to-back sessions you'll get just the overview you need to either get started on your own - or supervise the person who'll get your business ready to survive anything that comes its way.
Get proactive with physical security Take a proactive approach to conducting an objective physical security review that focuses on the assessment process, identifying vulnerabilities/risks and recommendations for a total integration with your existing security measures. This presentation also will discuss on the importance and development of the company contingency plan. All participants will realize the need for a total game plan and steps to take to be prepared. Presenter: Tim Dimoff, SACS Consulting and Investigative Services, Inc.
Building a ‘Disaster Recovery Community’ in Ohio “How much will all that cost?” Creating better technological solutions, applications and procedures always comes with a price tag. Discover ways to making testing and training as affordable as possible. Learn about opportunities for knowledge sharing, expert resources for hot sites, consulting, hardware and more. Presenter Steve Gruetter directs Platform Lab, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to this mission. Platform Lab’s mission is to create a competitive advantage for the Ohio IT sector by providing the ability to use numerous IT resources at a low cost.
Extreme Crisis Communications Leaders must anticipate the mental stresses the population will be experiencing and apply appropriate communication strategies to attempt to manage these stresses. Officials and spokespersons will gain the following understanding: the psychology of communicating in a crisis; your role as a spokesperson; working with the media during a crisis; public health and media law. This seminar gives leaders the tools to navigate the harsh realities of speaking to the public, media, partners and stakeholders during an intense public-safety emergency (e.g. including pandemic flu, mass casualty, terrorism and other extreme situations involving threats to life and limb). Presenter: Bruce Hennes, Hennes Communications
Utilities’ role in planning for IT disaster
Learn from the electrical power company, your Internet provider and other key ingredients to surviving an IT disaster—and incorporate their views into your plan.
No reason to go it alone—government and community partners There's no reason to go it alone. A wide variety of federal agencies, the State of Ohio, your local county, the boards of health, every hospital in the country and even a growing number of nonprofit agencies already have plans and procedures designed to cope with a wide variety of situations and challenges to your business or agency. In this seminar, you'll find out who knows what and what they're doing with that information and how you can create partnerships - before you need them.
Action—when contingency plans leap from the pageYou’ve planned, trained and prepared for a disaster. When reality hits, though, how well do you do? Learn from one Cleveland Clinic hospital’s experiences of enacting their contingency plans from the minute news arrives that a plane has skidded of a nearby airport runway to a chemical accident at a local company. Get quick reference guides and practical tips from someone who has been there. Presenter Ray Hewitt leads safety and security at Fairview Hospital as well as serving as the Cleveland chair of international security organization, ASIS.
